Pregnancy approaching 40 post IUD

Hi there all, I'm introducing myself as a newbie, will be 40 in a couple of months and want to try for baby no.2. I have a 10 year old daughter with my ex husband but after settling down with my o/h of 6 years we want a child together. I have had my copper IUD (not mirena/hormone one) removed two days ago 12th Aug and have been taking folic acid for past 2 weeks. However, i'm disappointed that doc said to leave three months before actively trying and to use condoms up until that point. His reason was that the possiblity of MC is 50% and he suggested I rule out the coil being acontributory factor in a possible MC. I have been very regular and no problems at all with periods, previous pregnancy etc butI want to start straight away?? Thoughts/advice please x Has anyone been successful at 40+ and not MC'd after coil removal?

Its tricky because he was giving me worst case scenario and my other doctor (female) said there was no reason we couldn't start trying straight away!!!

Thank you so much ladies for your advice! We are going to wait but as i didnt have the mirena and no hormones involved we will wait another month i think so i can have a decent AF beforehand.

I'm 38 I had the Mirena IUD, I talked to my doc abt us wanting to get pregnant n she suggested I take it out b4 we started trying so my system could cleanse itself. I waited til the 5 year were up in may n we decided to try in mid nov after a vacation we had planned. The doc told me it might take some time to get pregnant but it depended on my body. By Jan I was pregnant.

Hi welcome I am also new here! I had my iud taken two years ago I was 33 and they warned me I could get pregnant the minute I got home. Me and my husband ended up pregnant within a week and I miscarried at 14 weeks. I am not sure if it had anything to do with the iud but personally I would have a couple normal periods before trying. Best of luck to you and your hubby

You should listen to your doctor. Your body needs a chance to get back to normal after stopping birth control.
