Awesome!

I am so happy we have this site, hopefully we get some people to check it out! I think its helpful because people with one baby don't seem to have the answers when it comes to having two, the symptoms are different.

thanks, i've been thinking about getting another opinion too, right now I won't have to make any decision unless the baby develops fluid or edema around the heart and at that point I will need to decide. I really really hope that doesn't happen....

Ohhh I really hope and pray that the doctors are wrong too and that something changes so you are not put in the position to make any decisions!

And I would suggest that you go to another fetal cardiologist for a second opinion before making any decisions.

I really really hope the doctors are wrong about this one. today i went to the fetal cardiologist and she told me the valve problem was getting worse and blood was flowing back into the chambers. She also told me that to recreate a valve is a lot of work for any surgeon and that on a baby so small they don't even make the parts to do it (my little twin weighs only 1 lb right now) and if the baby goes into distress they are going to want to deliver, which she does not recommend based on the survival rate, and the affect on the healthy twin. Ughhh. Not a good day today. they basically told me I was going to have to make some difficult decisions soon as to whether to deliver early and try to save twin B (the one with the heart issues) which would put A (the healthy one) at risk, or to let twin B go. No easy way at all to decide and looking at all your posts gives me hope for little baby B who of course I want to save, but all in all don't want to risk A....

Doctors told my cousin repeatedly ( after testing) that she was carrying a downs baby....she decided to have the baby and guess what the doctors was wrong...not one thing wrong with baby imagine if she had aborted....sometimes those tests are faulty.....if not they have come a vey long way with ped heart surgery...prayers and love to you !!!

Hi, sorry to hear about your babies complication. My husband was born prem with a heart problem. He had surgery in 1981 at only ten days old to fix it (weighing only 3 Pounds) and has never had any problems since, and no follow-up surgery's. With the technology they have these days, your baby will be in very safe hands I'm sure. Now my husband and I are expecting twins in August, we already have a 2yr Boy.

also about the weight,i was told one of my boys was smaller and lighter and when they were born they were identical weight and length, but non identical twins..you wouldnt know it though as even at 2yrs old i get them mixed up all the time..they say mums  can always tell them apart but if they have their back to me i wouldnt have a clue haha
it seems doctors are human and mistakes are made..i do hope your babies are born wonderfully strong and healthy xx

Hello! I am so glad we have this forum now.

jennyfer - The weight thing is interesting. What was weird for us is that our Baby A always measured 6 ounces larger than Baby B but when born, Baby A weighed 12 ounces less than Baby B. We thought they got them mixed up but were assured by the whole team in the OR (Baby A was our baby that had complete previa) they got them out in the same order. So I guess they aren't always accurate. At any rate, I hope your little one catches up. They still have a lot of time to develop : )

Well just got back, no new news really. Baby b  is still smaller than A and has only gained 5 ounces so baby b is now 15 ounces and baby A is 1lb 13 ounces. Its still a wait and see situation to see if Baby B will make it.

My weight was up too, i've been told to walk 15 min per day lol. i've never had an issue in my life (was 110 before i got preggo) now 160...eeekkk. Well time to cut back and walk too.

Other than that I go again in 2 weeks to both docs. It was nice to see the babes on ultra sound, i really hope they both make it to delivery ok. Sunday marks 26 weeks.....must keep positive spirits up!

Oh I can totally sympathize with you. We just went through a few weeks of worrying too.  We had also originally decided against any invasive testing because of the risks to the babies, but then my doctor found fluid around both babies necks during routine ultrasound.  We went to specialist and got second opinion and felt that he was definatley the best person to do it.  We just got results back that everything was fine, but I was preparing mentally that we had potentially two down syndrome babies.

I still worry though.  It has been one week since last midwife appt and 2.5 weeks since last ultrasound (I had so many ultrasounds that one week that I saw doctor and specialist, that I decided just to see midwife last week and not go to doctor) but for me I would like to go every week to see them!  I now know they dont have chromosome problems, but t is hard for me not to worry a little that something else will come along..... hopefully this goes away with time...or when they start kicking on regular basis.

Well today I go for another visit to the high risk specialist and then to my regular ob afterwards for some fun gestational diabetic testing. Should be interesting. I am very egar to find out if my little girls growing or improving and of course how the other one is progressing too. I am not sure if you ladies know but here is my story....

Currently 25 weeks 5 days preggo w/twin girls (non identical) concieved with invitro.
On my level 2 ultra sound at 22 weeks they detected baby b  has a hole in her heart, enlarged heart, 2 vessels vs. the normal 3 on her umbilical cord, and is developing behind baby A by about 2-3 weeks.

We were shocked when we found out. The doctors said with endocardio cushin defect (the heart problem) its often times down syndrome or related to a genetic disorder. I declined amnio at the moment in fear of preterm labor and harm to the other twin by delivering both too early. So I am being closely monitored by a staff of fetal cardiologists, high risk multiple specialists and geneticists are helping to watch my little angel baby and see what happens. This is my first trip to my new high risk doctors and i have not seen the babies on ultra sound in 2 weeks so I am really egar to check progress....

Everyone keep fingers crossed and wish me luck:) Thanks~xoxox jen
