Discovering twins after 16 weeks?

My sister was told that she was having one baby and that she had a subchorionic hemorrhage at her last appointment.  Today she took her heartbeat checker and checked the baby's heartbeat.  On the left side she heard a heartbeat and on the right side she heard a heartbeat....no heartbeat in the middle.  She is thinking that they may have been wrong about the subchorionic hemorrhage and that it may have just been a hidden baby.  Is this even possible?

I'm not sure! I had my first ultrasound at 18 weeks and that's when they discovered my twins.

mrs adams what happened about the 2 heartbeats was it just one baby or two??????

sh should time it. it could either be her heart beat or the baby's echoing. they thought i was twin until my mom went into labor b/c they heard two heart beats here it was just mine echoing.

Did she time the heartbeats?  I ask this because you can hear your own on each side.  Its your pulse.  She should try and feel her pulse while listening and see if it matches or if it's going much faster.  If it's going much faster then maybe they are twins.  My aunt had twins and they did ultrasounds and everything and did not know it until she was delivering and two came out (but technology is more advanced now).  So I am not going to say that's not what it is but one or both could just be her pulse she is hearing.
