Hi there and congrats on your pregnancy! Just read all these comments and have to say you can always pick out the ones who have never smoked. They dont and wont understand. The nasty comments.....well you will always get those, so dont let them bug you. I smoked through my first pregnancy. My son was born healthy at a whopping 9lbs 4ozs. He is healthy as can be at 3 yrs old. Now. Talk to your doctor. That is the best person who can give you the best advice. My doctor told me to cut down but quitting could do more harm then good seeing as I had been a heavy smoker for 10+ years. It will probably make you sick, lord knows it did make me sick. You do what you need to do whether that is to quit or not. These people are not doctors so they dont know the facts. You will always run into nah sayers on a sensitive subject such as this, dont let it get to you. Good luck to you and your pregnancy. Im sure you will feel better after you talk to your doctor. Btw im on my second pregnancy..... I still smoke some but im cutting down, it just makes me sick and thats whats right for me and nobody will tell me different.

I'm 21 weeks pregnant ive been smoking since day one and my baby is 14 oz, which is bigger than he should be at this age, so it ddeoends in the persons pregnancy everyone is different. but it  healthier for tour baby if yoy quit. im planning in quitting at 24 weeks.

I worked with someone that smoked cigarettes her entire pregnancy. Her baby was born underweight and has severe issues with his lungs.

My BIL's daughter smoked her entire pregnancy. Her baby was born underweight and has clubbed feet.

I used be a smoker until I was 3 weeks pregnant with my 1st child. My Doc told me that smoking increases the risk of miscarriage (which I'm already high risk of) amongst MANY long term health issues with the baby later in life. I haven't had a cigarette since the day I found out I was pregnant with my 1st.

I'm shocked at someone saying that it's ok to smoke 10 cigs a day when pregnant, its not at all. I was a smoker and still really miss it at 30 weeks,  but have completely stopped just by thinking that every cig I put out half way through was a good thing I was doing for my baby and every extra hour without one was a great thing.  Like I said smoking is not safe for your baby but beating yourself up every time you have a cig just adds stress and guilt to the mix.  One step at a time and you could be a none smoking mum with pride in what you've achieved by your own choice not because someone told you you had to.

Smoking while your pregnant is incredibly selfish. You are now responsible for another life. I was smoking almost two packs a day when I found out and quit  immediately. Its hard but you're love for your child should over power your love for cigarettes.
