Bad smell from nose

Latley, my wife has told me that there is a bad smell coming from my nose. She says that sometimes it smells worse than others. She is pregnant and has said that it never smelt before she got pregnant. I dont notice any odd or bad smell and cant ever smell it. What could it be the cause of it. I have normal seasonal allergies and they have not been acting up at all. I have not had a cold recently and my nose has not been congested. It does get dry during the night though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that the most obvious answer would be to see a Doctor, but we dont have insurance right now. Thanks!

The first question is:  Does the “bad smell” originate in your nose or hers?  There are isolated reports of a heightened sense of smell during pregnancy.  There are also reports of individuals experiencing bad smells, with nothing to account for it, either in the nose or in the general environment.

Before embarking on a search for the cause of the alleged malodor in your nose, you should seek independent confirmation by a third party, preferably another family member.  If your wife is right, you might want to first try some nasal washes 3 to 4 times daily.  To learn more about this technique please read our nasal wash treatment information by copying and pasting this address

into the address window of your internet browser.

If that fails, you may want to seek a medical examination in a public clinic if one is available in your city.

Good luck.
