Blood clots and cancer

I wrote my first post almost 2 weeks ago yet no one has answered.  In June I was bitten by what the dr said was a brown recluse spider so I went to the dr immediately. He put me on a month of Levaquin. I went back after 2 days and had a very bad bladder infection.  Went back after 2 weeks and the dr said the bladder infection was gone, but I had to keep on with the Levaquin as I was showing signs of pneumonia and he took another blood test.  On the 3rd week of Levaquin, the dr called and said I was highly allergic to Levaquin and get to his office immediately.  He gave me a new antibiotic shot and within an hour I was very ill.  The next morning I woke up with a fever, unable to breathe and move my left side.  My husband took me to the ER where they thought I was having a heart attack.  It's the closest hospital to our house, so a new dr looked at my x-rays, CTScan and MRI.  My lungs had collapsed and I had pneumonia and 4 clots the size of half dollars in my lungs.  Now this new dr says at my age (65), it may be coming from cancer.  She is wanting to run a colonoscopy, and 4 other tests.  I've already had 5 tests and all have come out showing there is no problem.  Every dr, though, has said the same thing....it will take 8 months before the clots disappear and I feel better or have my usual energy.  I'm on coumedin and she said she would decide after 8 months whether it's a lifetime commitment to this medicine that I don't like to take or she may just stop it.  I now have anemia and she says this is normal.  Do I need to be frightened constantly about cancer?  Do I need to take it easy as she says since I do get short of breath if I rush around?  Can I re-start my daily walking routine?  She has me terrified.  I've told her to please listen to me...I've had surgery on both ankles and the surgeon put the veins and arteries back incorrectly.  Another surgeon tried to straighten the mess out, but it didn't work so my ankles stay swollen all the time.  She refuses to let me take my 10mg of Lasix that I take daily and has cut it to 5mg because she says my blood pressure is so low.  I am retaining water and put on 9 pounds this month....certainly not from eating.  I want her to see if the clots may be coming from the area in the ankles the surgeon messed up, but all she did was do a CTScan behind my knees.  Any suggestions as to the validity of the many tests she's putting me thru, the amount of x-rays, CTScans and MRIs she is having me take?  I've already asked you other questions above.  I appreciate any advice I can get.  Regards,

Hi, as I understand now you have blood clots in your lungs and have been initiated on Coumadin. The cause for the embolism needs to be determined, hence your doctor  is subjecting you to those tests. Pulmonary embolism is a complication of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which is clotting in the veins farthest from the surface of the body. It can also occur due to malignancies. As you continue to have breathlessness and as the clots have not resolved, you should continue coumadin to prevent further clotting and follow the instructions given by your doctor.  I wish you all the luck in finding the cause for your symptoms. Regards.
