You may actually have something stuck in your throat or this could be pain due to a heart or lung problem.  I suggest that you first see your primary doctor for a thorough exam to find the likely source of the pain in your chest.  Your doctor may also have a chest x-ray and EKG done.  If these are normal and your symptoms persist, unexplained, your doctor may want you to get a second opinion from the specialist most likely to know what is causing your symptoms.

Hi, I am new to the forum but your question caught my interest. My father had the same sort of symptoms. He always felt like something was stuck in his throat  and he has been a smoker for 30+ years now. Finally one day the pain was great and he had a burning sensation in his hip we took him to the hospital and they found that an abdominal aortic aneurysm had started to leak and the blood leaking out was causing the pain. My father is in a wheelchair now because of this whole incident so you might want to get it checked out immediately. During the surgery to repair the damage they had to clamp the Aorta and thus cause my father to suffer a spinal cord stroke. He has no feeling from the waist down now so if you think you might have an aneurysm please seek help immediately and have it taken care of before its too late. Only 3% live through that surgery my afther was extremely lucky so please seek help.
Thank you and good luck,
Aimee Bills
