elevatedB12/shortness of breath

My complete blood count showed my B12 is elevated to 1500 - way above normal. I do have fibromyalgia, which I have had for many years. I have been experiencing shortness of breath - serious - shortness but at 7000' my blood oxygen appears to be normal unless I exercise strenuously. Then it drops to around 83. I have had cognitive impairement and memory loss with this condition as well as loss of balance. I am concerned about Alzheimer's Disease as my mother and her mother died from this disease. Have they found that  AD patients have more B12 in them - or is this because of the reaction that I am getting because of the elevated B12 - or is the test erroneous because of my fibromyalgia along with cronic fatigue syndrome. And perhaps I really am deficient in B12? My DR indicated I could have Restrictive Lung Disorder also/or exercise induced asthma.  So he is sending me to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. I too am baffled by the reports. My lungs are enlarged but I have been a runner all my life/weight train/step aerobics/water aerobics/bike/climb in mts.

Thank you for replying to my question... I did have my B12 remeasured.  Was at 2000 the first repeat and after a 2nd repeat it was in the normal range.  We too could not find anything about elevated B12. I am in a research clinic for Alzheimer's Disease with Boswell Hospital in Sun City and I will contact the coordinator there to let her know I am feeling different.  I have been on levoxyl for about 15 years or so. Only 25mcg and if this is accumulitive that could be the shortness of breath..I understand that a side effect of levoxyl could be (rare but could be) SOB. I was put on levoxyl because "they" say that people with FMS could have a false reading TSH, T3, T4 - so my DR, then, put me on this low dose - as I was having symptoms of underactive thyroid. May have been simply the symtoms from CFS. But I am also insulin resistant and fuel efficient so perhaps I will try some bitter melon.  Well as you say the Mayo Clinic should be able to find the answer and I think it will all be connected to one thing - they are the diagnosticians so I will leave it up to them.  Again thanks so much for replying.I will surely make a donation.  I, for awhile thought I would not get an answer but you came through..Thanks again.  Perhaps you will follow through on what I just wrote. bjsm

The first thing I would recommend is that the B12 determination be repeated.  I could find no information on elevated levels, except in individuals receiving B-12 injections.  B-12 levels are low in Alzheimer's disease.  You should be evaluated for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's if, for no other reason, to put your mind at ease.

The lungs are small in restrictive lung disease.  The lungs can be enlarged with asthma, whether exercise induced or not.  The Mayo Clinic is the perfect place to have all your questions answered.
