respiratory dyskinesia

Hi,
I have Tourettes Syndrome. I took haloperidol to control the tics but this made me extremely agitated and restless. I felt very suicidal. Also I started to hyperventilate severely. I have never had any of these symptoms before and I am convinced that they were caused by the haloperidol.
1) Could the hyperventilating be RESPIRATORY DYSKINESIA?
2) If not, what is it?
3) Could you advise on a really good Tourette/Respiratory  surgeon?
Many thanks,
Terry

Have you asked your doctor to investigate any alternatives to the medication that you feel is giving you some bad respiratory side effects?

Also, there's another Tourette Syndrome forum, over at http://www.braintalk.org

Have you tried asking your good questions over there, at that forum?

Sincerely, Concerned lady

could someone please tell me what is causing me to hyperventilate?
I started doing this when I took haloperidol to control tics. The haloperidol made me extremely agitated and restless.
I breathe in this way all day long and have done so for five years now. It is very distressing.
What is causing it?
What can I do about it?
Many thanks.

Many thanks for your reply. The problem is that the tourette forum does not know the answer. I see this as essentially a  breathing problem caused by haloperidol use. What would YOUR treatment be?
