HPV Transmission via Penis contact with Upper Buttocks

Hello,

I recently married a female who has never had any sexual contact of any kind.  The female I married comes from a very traditional background.

I have HPV and the last time I had a wart frozen was May 2012.  However, I did feel that I noticed a wart in December 2012 but the legion came off with a light rub of the hand.  So, possibly the last known wart was May 2012 or December 2012.

My wife is scheduled to get her first of 3 Gadasil shots on April 12, 2014.  In order to not cause a problem before then, we were grinding with my boxers on and her thong on.  However, when I rolled over my penis became exposed through a slit in the box briefs which caused my penis to rub against her upper buttox with nothing inbetween, it was 100% direct contact.

I would like to know the following:

What are the chances I spread the virus to my wife via direct skin to skin contact - my penis rubbing against her upper buttox?

We have had zero sexual contact to this day other than kissing, mouth to mouth.

Welcome to the Forum.  I understand your concern since genital warts are transmitted through direct contact and since friction (including "grinding") can increase the efficiency of transmission but I would not be worried about the contact that you describe.  I say this for a number of reasons which include:

1.  There is no evidence that you have warts at this time. the lesion that came off so easily in December 2012 does not sound like a wart and in the absence of visible warts for over a year it is unlikely that you are any longer infectious.

2.  The skin of the buttocks is thicker and more resistant to infection with HPV than the thinner, more easily infected skin of the vaginal area.

3.  Most single exposures do not lead to transmission.

Thus, in considering all of these factors together, I would not worry about HPV transmission.  I hope that this comment is helpful to you.  EWH

Thank you for your comments but I am stressing, seeing as she has waited so long with not contact of any sort.

How can I figure out definitely if she has HPV or not; a pap smear in 6 months?

Also, if she receives all 3 shots before we have further genital to genital contact, what is your estimate of her chances of receiving genital warts or HPV in general assuming we have unprotected vaginal and oral sex?

After we were done grinding, my erect penis was resting on her buttox inside my boxers (she was on her stomach and I was on top of her with my stomach on her back).

As I turned over off her backside and onto my back, the penis became exposed through a slit in the boxer and I felt it rub against her upper buttox.  This is the point where I noticed that we had direct skin to skin contact.

I just wanted to add some more details in case it was relevant.  Thank you.

Please re-read my comments.  You need to stop stressing.  Trying to check her for HPV is silly and a waste of time and money.

After receipt of the HPV vaccine your partner is more than 99% protected from HPV caused by the types of virus covered by the vaccine, including the viruses that cause nearly all visible warts.

Relax.  EWH

Thanks doctor.

I appreciate the consultation.  I am confident that after she received the vaccine we would have been in a good position to have unprotected sex as a married couple and have low risks of transmitting the virus, assuming she was not previously exposed.

I am concerned that I already messed this up due to our grinding incident before she even received the vaccine. I think I messed up the plan as she may already have been exposed to the virus.

You and I disagree.  I do not think you "messed up". At this point there is nothing further you can do anyway.  Take care.  This will end this thread. EWH
