Do I have Ngu

It all started when I got Chlamydia from my fiance.  My symtoms were fever, vaginal and anal itching, and just a bad smell exspecially from the anal area.   I went to my doctor and got tested, and he gave me the antibiotics for Chlamydia.  When I took them, I had sever diarrea, and sever abdominal pain.  After that everything was ok for a few weeks.  I then started smelling bad. I was sweating alot under my armpits, pelvic area and anal area.  I felt like my body was trying to fight off some sort of infection, It felt like I was having hot flashes. I also was getting a mucopurelent discharge that looked yellow/green.  I would pass gas with out even knowing.  I went to my doctor and told her, but she looked at me like I was crazy.  She said nothing.  She retested me for Chlamydia, and that was negative.  Went back and she only tested me for vaginal bacteria, gonarrea, and that came back negative.  After that she has said nothing and done nothing.
I had to quit my job because I was smelling.  I could take 5 showers a day, and the smell would come back right away!
I heard that my ex-fiance was suffering from some Ureathral infection as well, which I believe could be the NGU infection.

Could I have this NGU, or what else could it be? What kind of doctor should I go to?

Thank you doctor for responding to my question.  My doctor tested me for bacterial vaginosis and the test came back negative.  So, your saying that if a man has NGU, he cannot transmit anything to a woman, because only men get it?

NGU occurs only in men; the symptoms of NGU are urethral discharge and burning and the syndrome is diagnosed by showing that there are white blood cells present in a swab specimen from the penis or on an initial void urine specimen.  It can be caused by chlamydia in some instances but in other instances, the cause cannot be shown. Either way, NGU is treated with the same therapy as is used for chlamydia.  If your doctor re-tested you after you had been treated and you had failed therapy, she would have made the diagnosis.

Neither NGU nor any other STD is associated with excessive sweating or unusual odors; the only exception to that is that in women bacterial vaginosis can be associated with increased vaginal discharge and a fishy vaginal odor.  It is treated with metronidazole.  It can also be associated with vaginal discharge.

My advice, get checked for bacterial vaginosis.  You do not have NGU.  EWH

Only men get NGU.  Among the things that can be indentified, chlamydia is most common but there are many cases when a specific cause cannot be shown.  Most cases respond to therapy for chlamydia, whether or not chlamydia is shown to be present.

The counterpart of NGU in men is called mucopurulent cervicitis (MPC) and it is even harder to say what causes it other than chlamydia, for which you have already been treated.  I think the problems you outlined are something that you and your doctor need to work together to address.  It may take some trial and error but that would be better than going from doctor to doctor because each doctor would need to start again from the beginning.  Good luck.  EWH
