Please Help.

Hello,   This is kind of a long story but i appreciate any help.  At the beginning of the year my wife and i seperated for sometime. On Feb 4th I received oral sex from a woman in her late 30's/early 40's. A few weeks later my wife comes back, we have sex on Feb 16 we have sex.  On Feb 18/19 I start having symptoms of frequent urination, and a slight stinging after urination.Never any pain actually during urination. Possibly some irritation on the tip of my urethra. No discharge I visted the doctor a week after these symptoms started  and told him about the Oral Sex, he told me that was low risk and said I probably had a UTI and prescribed me a weeks worth of cipro. My symptoms continued throughout the week while I was taking the meds.So I returned to the doctor on Mar 2 with symptoms still so I took an chlamydia gonorrhea test that came back negative.(I was told that even though I took cipro the tests would still show positive if i had anything, dunno if thats true)  My symptoms had pretty much stopped at this time, my doctor said that this was possibly from prostatitus.  No symptoms until a week later, and I have an itchy urethra and the urge to urinate frequently. I am freaking out that I have brought some kind of STD to my marriage. Does this sound like any sort of STD to anyone? I have never had any discharge which has been the only thing keeping me sane through this.

Please re-read my comments.  You need not be concerned. Nearly everyone who gets gonorrhea does develop a urethral discharge.  EWH

Welcome to the Forum.  I would not worry.  Receipt of oral sex is an inefficient way to acquire STDs.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   The symptoms you describe, including urinary frequency are not symptoms of urethritis (penile infection).  Even if your partner had an STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.

In contrast, anxiety and increased focus/observation can certainly lead to becoming aware of normal sensations that would not be noticed otherwise, as well as to increased frequency of urination.

My advice is not to worry and to move forward from this.  EWH
