Herpes?

Hello. I'll try to be concise.

3 unprotected vaginal encounters (2 one time only, the other was twice)
Happened between October and December 2013.
Tested fully afterwards. Positive for chlamydia.
Took zithromax. Symptoms left. Felt fine.

Now around a month ago (5 weeks post last encounter)
Wake up to redness on penis head and foreskin. Lasts less than a day but returns after any sexual contact.
Notice generalised itching (groin, anus and scrotum) which is ongoing for 3 weeks.
Sensitive skin between bum cheeks. Looks like jock itch.
Redness on scrotum.
Pain in penis head occasionally.
My main concern today was immediately after passing urine (which has never been painful) I noticed a strange discharge which I can't describe. Like frothy almost.
I've never seen any blistering or similar besides two infected hair follicles.
Seen 3 sti doctors and nurses (pre discharge) and non suspect herpes.

A few questions:
1. Does this sound anything like herpes?
2. If no, any ideas? I have a GP appointment tomorrow but I'm very very anxious about this. Especially now my gf is involved (had unprotected sex after zithromax)
3. Could a fungal infection tie all symptoms together? STI doctor believed that to be the cause.
4. Does herpes cause discharge? Is it anything like the discharge I experienced (immediately after urinating, no discomfort at all)
5. If the herpes outbreak was on my bum, would I be in constant pain? Would it hurt to touch? Is an outbreak there likely?

Thank you so much for any advice.

I suspect you canput this to rest once and for all by returning for further evaluation.

It is possible but most unlikely that your GF got thrush from perfroming oral sex on you, IF you have a genital fungal infection.

Our space for further responses is limited. It is time for this thread to end.  EWH

This seems to be never ending.
I suppose I'll have to go back the sexual health clinic to be tested.
I think the rest of the symptoms are maybe because of thrush. My girlfriend texted me earlier saying she thinks she has oral thrush (which she has had before). Is it possible that's a result of performing oral sex on me?

Yes, there is a small chance that this could be trichomonas however this would e a bit unusual and certainly would not account for your GF's symptoms. EWH

I'm perhaps making a mountain out of a molehill but could the discharge be from trichomoniasis?
I've probably not been tested for that.

This is not herpes.  It would be most unusal forthisto be anoher STI.  If you are concerned, you should go and get checked.  EWH

Sorry I know I said that would be my final question but I'm quite concerned about this discharge. Just went for a pee and this time it looked like clear urine came out immediately after I pee'd.

Is this definitely not herpes related? everywhere I read online says this is caused by STD's. Could the chlamydia still be causing me problems? Are there any non-std explanation for this?

Thanks for the reassurance and may I add that you and Dr HHH's work on this forum is very helpful and I've appreciated reading your advice over my lengthy struggle with whatever is going on with me.

I know you see it unlikely I have HSV, but, hypothetically if I did, would my girlfriends symptoms match an initial outbreak at all? given that she's not expressed any concerns about genital symptoms only flu-like which have been ongoing for 4/5 days?

That's my final question and thanks again Dr Hook

The added comments do not change my assessment.  HSV is unlikely.  EWH

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be happy to comment.  The symptoms you describe do not sound like herpes for a number of reasons.  If you had acquired HSV:
1. Lesions would be expected to appear within two weeks of exposure, not at five weeks.
2.  HSV typically occurs at sites of exposure, his your rather widespread symptoms are not suggest of HSV.
3.  HSV would not explain your discharge following urination.  HSV would not cause urinary symptoms in the absence of lesions.

This I agree with your other doctors, HSV is not a major concern in efforts to explain your symptoms.  The redness, itching and irritation inskin folds  is associated with problems such as fungal infections.  This would be my first consideration.  EWH

Sorry, last of all and in fact most importantly.

Only had unprotected sex with my new girlfriend twice. Last weekend. Now terrified she has herpes and I'll tell you why.

We had sex on Friday night. I had a bad cold.
By Sunday she felt unwell.
Monday she had muscle aches and felt tired and faint.
Tuesday she's got swollen neck glands. Coughing. Tired. The dreaded "flu like symptoms"
Wednesday she is still ill.
Thursday she was physically sick.

Last questions. If she had herpes and these symptoms were linked would she have genital symptoms by now? Are these "flu-like symptoms" the same as what's described in relation to herpes

Sorry for milking this. I'll await your reply. Thanks again doctors.

Also, forgot to add.

- occasional crawling sensation across scrotum. Usually when seated and when thinking about herpes
- strange feeling inside my penis like it's shuddering. Lasts no more than a second.

I believe I'm very very anxious and hyper aware of any goings on downstairs. In fact, at work I can't sit still because all I'm thinking about is my genitals
