STD anxiety

Dr.

About 3 weeks ago I had unprotected sex with a friend of mine to which she has told me is STD free. I was tested 3 months ago as a check up and everything came back negative. About a week ago I noticed 4 tiny skin colored bumps on the shaft of my penis. They are painful or itch or anything.  I immediately  had them checked out by the corpsman at my work (military) to which he said he was about 100% sure they were not any type of STD. Out of shear terror and anxiety I popped three of them the other day and they were filled with clear fluid. I do have several fordyce looking goose bump on the shaft of my penis and have always have. So I don't know if it was that or something worse. Also I don't know if this is paranoia or the fact I've been a total wreck the last week over this but I found one drop of clear discharge from my penis this morning and freaked. I have not had any other discharge that I know about any no pain urinating or anywhere else for that matter.  I have researched the internet which us just freaked me out more and I do not know what to do. Please help

The moderators are not on call 24/7 to answer your anxiety-driven questions.  The goal is for replies within 24 hours.

Your more detailed description -- "smooth with little dimples on them" -- suggests you might have had molluscum contagiosum, a minor and harmless viral infection.  MC lesions bleed when removed and usually are shiny pink and may have central dimples.  Howeer, they do not contain clear fluid.  (You can google MC for more information and photos.)

Going back to the urethral issue:  if I had to teach medical students how to recognize anxiety-driven symptoms, I would quote you:  "The slight discomfort only comes when I am thinking about it and once I have my mind off of it for whatever reason I don't notice it."

That's all for this thread.  Assuming your penile bumps don't reappear, you should be having no worries.  It's time to move on.

To reiterate and potentially save the good doctor some time and also your money with reposting the same questions in follow up threads (preventing other questions being answered) he does not believe that what your describing is an STD, and to "stop examining yourself and do your best to move on about all this".

Do yourself a favor and take the doctors advice and move on, you yourself said the slight discomfort goes away when your not thinking about it so stop fiddling with it think about something else and count yourself lucky that not one but two doctors do not think you have an STD.

I have a few follow up questions from my earlier post about the bumps on my penis shaft. It was suggested that it could be miliaria be cause of the clear fluid that came out when I popped them. I did some more research and I do not have red skin around the bumps. Is that still concurrent with miliaria? Again there was no pain or green or yellow puss. Thy did bleed a little as I essentially removed them in a panic. The bumps were smooth with little dimples on them. They did not itch or anything.  Next question was in regard to the slight discomfort at the tip of my penis and the single drop of clear discharge this morning. I had unprotected sex with a friend 3 weeks ago to which she said she was STD free. Which I believe for the most part. I was tested 3 months ago and all results came back negative and I have not been with anyone since. The slight discomfort only comes when I am thinking about it and once I have my mind off of it for whatever reason I don't notice it. It does not burn when I urinate or ejaculate. I have do e several inspections by opening the tip of my penis and wonder if that is the cause of the discomfort. Thanks again for the help.

Also Dr. one follow up. I had the STD test 3 months ago but had the unprotected sex 3 weeks ago. Does that change what your thought are?

No, I don't.  I'm quite confident your anxieties about the sexual exposure and fear of STD are magnifying normal body sensations or trivial symptoms that you otherwise wouldn't notice or would ignore.  And any STD that could possibly cause symptoms of this sort would have shown up on the lab tests you had 3 months ago.

So my advice is that you stop examining yourself and do your best to move on without worry about all this -- and my bet is that your symptoms will fade.

Does my description of miliaria sound like the fluid-filled bumps you spoke of?

Thank you very much. I also forgot to mention that there is a very very mild discomfort at the tip of my penis. Out of paranoia (again) I have been opening up the end of my penis to look for anything. I haven't found anything but there is slight discomfort from time to time. Really only when I'm thinking about it.  Again no pain or any other other symptoms. Do think it could be an STD?

So I assumed.  See above.  Also, in my description of miliaria I meant to write warm climates, not clients.  Pardon the error.

Welcome to the forum.

The only STD that might cause penile bumps with clear fluid inside is herpes.  However, herpes would also cause redness and soreness; and over 2-4 days, the clear fluid turns cloudy and then yellow (like pus). Then the lesions open up to sores, or become scabbed.

If the ONLY characteristic is superficial, clear-fluid-filled blisters, really the only possibility is miliaria, also called a sweat rash.  This is an issue primarily in warm clients.  What happens is that sweat gland openings become blocked, so sweat builds up under the outermost layer of skin. (Since you're apparently in the military, I wonder if you're in a hot climate or have to wear restricted clothing.)  The is a completely harmless issue.

It is often possible to squeeze a drop of clear mucus from the penis.  T/his also does not sound abnormal, and it is unrelated to the skin bumps.

Try googling miliaria and do a little reading about it.  You can also easily find photos on line.  In the meantime, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Correction on typing. The bumps were NOT painful or itchy. Just caught that. Sorry
