Redness on left of penis for 2 yrs

Hi Doctor,     A high risk encounter with condoms about 2 years ago (march2012) I developed redness on the right side of penis head. STDs tests been nornal (3-4 times).  Was seen by family practitioner (his diagnosis candidiasis and prescribed (Nystatin and Triamcino Acetonide cream)..it wld become faint but never go away and then saw internal medicine doctor (July 2013) he disgnosed prolly nothing or candiasis ...he prescribed Clotrimazole-betamethasone cream ..here2 only makes it less red but did not go away .. then I went to Dermatologist Nov2013 the nurse pratitioner saw and did a biopsy (small part of that area was cut and send for pathology). The NP gave  Xolegel, cloderm .. I went in again for test results then dermatologist said results were inconclusive (or just irritation) and looked at my redness and said prolly irritation and prescribed Hydrocortizone this time. I have been applying this on and off ... the redness becomes faint and then return. Want to get a cure for this? Also, can it be Prostate Cancer.

Also few things past year
I just turned 30 (5'10.5, 197 pounds, BMI 28%) nowerections ... I used to never think about erections at all until Feb2013.. tried sex... but my penis was semi-hard.. BJJ .. HJ and penetration did not get it hard .. ... since I have tried to have sex with a few others but even if I am hard initially I will go semi hard in 5-10 minutes. So I tried to use the liquor store male enhancement pill (Zen) this gives hard erection 3-4 days but unusual headaches, tingling at fingers and lower back pain ... Are pills at liquor stores safe?
I been a pre-diabetic in early 2012 but got it under control in six months with diet exercise (160lbs Jan2013).  .. after mar2013 i have been eating everything to look big (197lbs now)  .so Im again back to pre-diabetic range blood sugars.
my question .. I think my ED is mostly pre-diabetic .. but could it also be something to do with the redness (as in cancer or something else) Pls help doc!

Welcome back to our Forum. I’ll be pleased to comment.  I doubt that the persistent redness that you mention is in any way related to the exposure two years ago that you mentioned and have previously interacted with Dr. Handsfield over.  You have been well evaluated and the biopsy results are helpful.  The irritation that was noted was not a specific disease and therefore might have been related to something as benign as friction from the way you dress, from masturbation or from repeated self-examination.  Areas of the genitals that have been damaged in some way tend to recur more readily than areas that have not previously been traumatized.  The fact that steroid (hydrocortisone) creams make it better likewise suggest that this is not a manifestation of an STI or other serious illness.  I would suggest that you return to the dermatologist who performed the biopsy and ask his/her opinion. the fact that it still troubles you and that they have a prior biopsy to refer to gives you a head start in addressing the problems.  I would not worry about STI however.

As for your erectile dysfunction, this is  a separate problem which should be addressed in a different fashion. OTC supplements are rarely helpful and can be dangerous (some contain any number of unregulated substances).  Rather this is a problem that might be best discussed with a urologist.  ED drugs such as Viagra may be helpful but you are rather young to have such problems- I suggest you discuss it with a  physician.  While not an emergency, it certainly is something worth addressing.

I hope these comments are helpful. EWH
