Rimming & Fingering

Hello Dr.,
Yesterday I visited a massage parlour and the masseuse (lady) performed the following to me:
1) Fingering inside my an**s.
2) Rimming for a few minutes (essentially licking).

Although her mouth did not show any kind of lesion, I am now worry about possible STD's (i.e. gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, etc.) after reading some posts even here in Medhelp, yet you and the other Dr. at this forum have repeatedly stated that the risk is very low.

Could you please confirm if I am at risk of catching any type of STD given such exposure? I am worry about the possibility of transmission through the fingering (she did not use gloves) and rimming.

Also, could you kindly elaborate when you say that the risk may be very low? (what would be the chances/odds of transmission of such STD's for this single exposure should she had an oral STD?

Thank you for your prompt response.

Thanks so much for your response and explanation Dr. Hook.
Quick follow-up question.

If the rimming included sucking and kissing by the masseuse in said area (as well as the testicles), is there any risk of transmission of any STD?
The chances of transmission would remain the same (a small proportion of 1%) or such additional information about the exposure changes your opinion?

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll start this reply by telling you that I am not aware of any risk associated with anal masturbation or rimming.  Certainly there are no cases of transmission of STIs from person to person through hand-to-genital or hand-to-rectal contact.  The same is true for rimming as well.  Even if your partner had an oral STI (which is unlikely) licking the anus would not be expected to transmit infection.  Your chance of infection from this activity is less than a small proportion of 1%.

I see no reason for concern related to the event you describe.  I also see no reason for testing.  EWH

The additional details in no way change my opinion or advice.  I see no reason for concern. EWH
