very confused if this is an std or not?

On April 9th I had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex. Saturday morning I noticed a burning itchy pain from my anus. I also had burning itchy pain coming from the foreskin of my penis. This pain was persistent and did not go away. I went to my general doctor on April 14th and she did a urine test and it was not a tract infection. She also did a hemorrhoid test and did not feel anything. Std tests came back negative.  I know that they are not accurate at the beginning.

The itchy burning pain on the foreskin stopped bothering me a few days later, but I still had the anus pain, but it was better.  She said that I should try valtrex for 10 days. I began taking Valtrex and did not really notice any improvements. By the end of the prescription my penis foreskin began to burn and itch.

The doctor referred me to a gastroenterologist and I met with him on May 6th and he told me that I needed a colonoscopy. I had anus and penis pain that weekend and up until the colonoscopy. On Friday May 15th I had the colonoscopy done. My anus felt fine the next three days until I went back to work and it began bothering me. I met with him on the 27th and still had anus pain. He told me that my internal hemorrhoids were very irritated and he needed to feed them with a laser. The pain began to go away after the first laser feeding and eating a high fiber diet.

I was referred to a urologist to look a my penis, which was still itching and burning on May 13th. The doctor told me that it was a fungal infection.  He prescribed me Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream. He told me that it could be allergy to the condom.  Early June the itching burning stopped and I stopped using the cream a few days later. Flash to last Friday morning and I woke up and my anus was burning. My genital area (penis foreskin and scrotum) is also burning a little and I began to use the cream again.I am really confused if this is herpes or std or just a relapse of the fungal infection/hermriod.

Welcome to the Forum.  I have read your concerns and have a few comments to this rather complex series of events.  To get right to the bottom line there is little reason to worry that this is an STD or any sort, particularly herpes.  Your symptoms appear to have begun about a day and one-half following your expsoure which really is too soon to be an STD but is the right time for some other sort of local inflammatory process such as an allergy.  IN addition to the timing being in no way suggestive of an STD, your expsoure of highest risk, the vaginal sex was condom protected making STD still less likely.  Finally you have had negative tests.

It occurs to me that there may be two problems going on which are somewhat coincidental in their timing.  The first has to do withthe irritation of your penis.  It sounds as though it could well be a fungal infection or an allergic dermatitis of some sort.  My advice would be tto stop all treatment and go see a dermatologist.  As for your anus, your symptoms are totally consistent with the gastroenterologist's diagnosis of hemmorrhoids.  I would continue management for them as well.

Once again however, as far as STDs are concerned, I really hear of no reason for concern and think the onset of these problems may be coincidental with your exposure rather than due to it.  As for the possibility of herpes, I hear of nothing to support it and would suggest you stop the valacyclovir.

Hope this helps.  EWH

Well what I am really worried about is that the burning itching pain I had in April was herpes and not hemorrhoid problem or a fungus problem.  I am worried that now I am having another outbreak.
