WORRIED, IS THIS HERPES??

I noticed this morning a patch of skin that appears to be shiny, about the size of an eraser head underneath the head of my penis.  It appears to be loose skin, as it could almost peel off.  There is no itching or pain associated with this.  No burning whatsoever.  I am worried that this may be Herpes.  Is this a typical symptom of herpes?  Thank you in advance!

I saw this comment before replying above.  My suggestion is the same, to see a health care provider.

This doesn't sound at all like herpes, or any other STD.  If you are convinced the spot is new or abnormal, have it professionally evaluated.  There are many non-STD skin problems that affect the genitals, most of them mild and easily treated once properly diagnosed.  See your primar care provider or a dermatologist.

To add, I had noticed the spot was red on Tuesday afternoon.  I have read that herpes opens into a sore within 24-48 hours, and is associated with pain, which makes me feel somewhat better.  I am still a bit afraid.  I plan on making an appointment with my gen prac Monday.  In the meantime I would appreciate any suggestions.\

Again, thank you in advance!
