Yeast Infection from Female to Male?

Dr. Handsfield,

I am a 30 year old male.  My female partner currently has a yeast infection and is being treated by a doctor for this.  We had unprotected sex several times before she knew for sure that she had this.  Now my private area itches on and off; I experience some sporadic groin pain.  Overall feel "yucky" down there.  Hard to describe.  

To muddy the water, two weeks ago, went to a dirty strip club where they are borderline- sex workers.  Girl covered her breasts w/ lubricant and used them on my privates (as well as her hands) until climax.  The place was nasty- pubic lice scabies even crossed my mind, but someone told me that if you have that, it will drive you insane.  My itching is much more sporadic.  But I'm still worried about other possibilities than the yeast infection.

Basically trying to decide at this point if I should go to the doctor and present myself as a possible yeast-infection candidate and ask for whatever the treatment is for that specific thing; or should I level with them and present myself as someone who needs to be tested for all STDs.  Thanks so much.

I think Dr. Handsfield did not realize that I wrote back a second time after I thanked him.  Maybe he meant that there is a small theoretical risk, but not a practical one.  I don't know.  Anyways, the my doctor believes my prostate is infected and could be bacterial from all of the weird exposures.  That's a possibility I hadn't thought of.  I'm getting some kind of topical creme stuff for it.

It's possible to transmit yeast infections to male partners, but it's certainly not common. Speaking from my own experience, I gave my husband one once out of many, many, *many* times having sex with a yeast infection (I used to have them practically continuously when I was on the pill), but then he's uncircumcised and diabetic. I've never heard of automatically treating male partners as well.

Odd....I have read you can pass a yeast infection back and forth.  My friend also says she gets yeast infections and has her man treated too, otherwise she goes back to sleeping with him and constantly gets reinfected.  

I apologize yo HHH, I am not a doctor.  Though it was something I have read a few times in my search for HSV answers.

Thanks again for your response.   To answer your question, my sex partner is definitely regular.  But I took your advice and I was actually able to get into the county std clinic this morning (was surprised they could see me so quickly).  They took blood and did a visual inspection of my penis and did not see anything irregular.  In the county where I live, they will not do a Chlymadia test without being sure you need it and will not do any HSV tests unless they see something.  They said the cost is too high.  They could not do a swab test for Gonorrhea because I had taken an antibiotic within the last week or so.  I guess that leaves HIV & Syphilis- not sure what else they can test for with just blood.  I should have asked more questions, but I was just trying to get out of there and not be late for work.

I don't seem to have itching anymore, but I am still having some penis / groin pain.  I noticed it after work when I got in the car and sat in a different position.  I wondered if I could have gotten something bacterial from the stripper since STDs from that incident would not be a factor.  ...Or if the lubricant she used could have been non-oxyl 9 and created a problem for me.  (saw something about that on the Internet)  Not sure where to go from here, if I should now have a regular doctor visit for a UTI maybe or something like that.  Please offer your opinion if you have time.  I won't reply with anymore questions.  Thanks again.

Yeast is not sexually transmitted.  I haven't a clue what you mean by "feeling yucky down there", but it has nothing to do with your partner's yeast infection, especially since she is on treatment for it.

You can't get STDs by contact with women's breasts.

I doubt you need medical evaluation at all.  But just in case your (regular?) partner's problem is something other than yeast, you might want to see a health care provider for STD testing.  Don't request diagnosis and treatment just for yeast; if you get checked at all, make it for all common STDs. But in the meantime, mellow out.  It doesn't sound like you're at risk.
