I don't think I can help very much. As I have said many times on this forum, a verbal description can't match an actual exam by a health care provider, and I really can't compete with the diagnosis you already have had. In any case, clotrimazole cream won't help; that's an antifungal cream, and there is nothing in your description that suggests a fungal infection.
My main advice is to see what happens over the next few days, and return to the clinic if the problem persists. Or, of course, if symptoms recur, in which case a blood test for HSV infection might be indicated. (See numerous other threads about the proper kind of herpes blood test to request.) In any case, stop using the clotrimazole.

sorry, i meant the irritation is below the head of the penis and wraps around the left side of the penis and the back of it.
there are no scabs or vesicles should i try more things or should i wait it out. also are there accurate early detection herpes tests?
Sounds even less like herpes than before. The HerpeSelect blood test usually becomes positive by 4-6 weeks, but sometimes takes up to 3 months.
