What a Nightmare

OMG...So I ended up in the hospital Friday night...I thought I was doing okay after LP..drank and drank...and then it hit..I can not tell you..I had to be driven home from work Friday because I could not stand and was vomitting from worst headache in life...Doctor told me to go to ER and get blood patch.....The hospital would not do one..apparently the anesthesiologist (sp. but you know) said it was too soon and they had a protocol that says they can only do patch if it is 4 days or MORE after LP....whatever...I said fine but I AM NOT leaving here like this and not without drugs..so 10 hours later and a caffiene IV with pain meds I could stand w/out vomitting and I actually could say I felt better.. They sent me home..I have been lying flat on back since (first time I could sit up so I wanted to fill you in) OMG..(is not the word I want to use but I never want to feel that AGAIN) I am doing better and know when to lye flat which is pretty much all the time..but the pain is subsiding (as I knock on wood) I'll let you all know how I do.. BTW..the nurses were awesome..they did everything possible for me...LOVED THEM.....

Bye..gotta go lye down

My dear jibby

There I was thinking you had got through LP with no problems, what a horrible experience for you. I do hope you are doing better now and you don't have to have blood patch, although I can't believe the doctors expecting you to go home for a few days because it was 'too soon' OMG!!!
Good to know you were well looked after by the nurses though.
Sending positive vibes your way for a quick recovery.

Hugs and more hugs

Sorry I am getting to this late; how aweful!!!!  I know how you feel, that is the worst pain ever!  And I agree with Binx: stay down until you know for sure you are 100%!  If you don't, all the sudden, BAM!  It'll hit you again.

I am really suprised that they couldn't do the blood patch right then and there.  How many days was it when you went in?  How irritating for you.  You go in in desperate need of help and they tell you no, sorry it's too soon?  ERRR!!!!  But, at least they gave you some meds...

When I got to the ER for my blood patch I was in the same boat, vomiting from the pain, couldn't hold myself up in the wheelchair due to the pain, etc.  They started an IV and gave me a dose of morphine, which made the pain tolerable.  Hopefully this is what they gave you to take home.

I am glad you are doing better than the other day and am really thinking of you and praying that you will be back to 100% really soon!!!!

dear jibby,

i am so, so, so very and truly sorry to hear about your experience.  you're right--what a nightmare!!  i am glad you are doing a little better and that you feel the nurses took good care of you.  no one needs to be judged or treated poorly when they're going through that kind of hell.

please take care and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, as always.

i don't like telling people what to do, but please don't get up until you are 100%.  work can wait.

with healing thoughts and hugs,
binx
