Way OT-Sadie's Vet Appt

Hello my friends...well Sadie had her usual follow up vet appt. this am..As many of you know she has been diagnosed with 2 types of cancer and this past summer had a large tumor removed from her face which in turn was lymphoma. The doc did an amazing job to reconstruct her face...We opted for steroids to keep it at bay as best we could.

Well, today we were told her cancer is progressing. It is reforming in her mouth, and the doc felt a very enlarged lymph node in her neck..She has slowed down a bit, as we figured she would but did not quite expect this..timeframe? the doc said as fast as it is she would not say weeks but most likely in months we will see some big changes.....I asked if there were signs we should look for so "I know when" (you know, it's time) she said when she stops eating.....which is hard to beleive she will because right now, she is a piggy and she shoves her face so far in the bowl she gets food up her nose and I have to wash her face...chuckle chuckle....She upped her meds ....

I woke up neauseated (still) and when I left there..I was ready to vomit......and almost did

So that is that..add that to the mix... We will keep her comfy and love her to pieces even more than we ever have but this will be tough...i will let you know..but i am not ready to let go...

Talk with you all soon..

Love Jibby

oh, jibby.

i am so sorry to hear about sadie.  it is so sad that things are progressing so rapidly.  sweet baby dog.

it sounds like your vet has the right idea about how to handle this, and you are really keeping your chin up in spite of how ill you have been feeling.  i know this is unbelievably difficult, but like you said, just love her up as much as you can.  she'll let you know when it's time.

many hugs coming your and sadie's way from across the miles.

xoxo

Thanks Bob..I love her vet..she is right..that will be my sign...Sadieis my best friend and this has been so hard...I want her to go peacefully when it is time....Thanks for your thoughts.

Be Well...I meant to tell you that i admire your knowledge and input on so many of the posts here..I have learned a lot from what you have written...I am in limbo and I really think it is MS..or should I say i would be very surprised if it is not..having a difficult time finding another neuro but I think I need a second opinion..

Thanks again for all your help.

Sorry to hear about Sadie.  We have 4 dogs here that are all over 10 years old.  All have various "lumps and bumps."  Mostly benign lipomas, but I think that they are the beginning of the decline.  One of the Basenjis here (we have two) stops dead in his tracks and has some type of simple seizure.  Its kind of comforting to know I;m not the only one in the house with neurologic issues.

They are our companions for several years, and we need to know when to let go.  We really don't own them, but we are there caretakers.  I think your vet has the right idea.  Once they "go off food," it's pretty much time.
