My Reborn Baby Dolls

Hello! I am 43 years old, and I like to collect and play with lifelike newborn baby dolls. It all started back in September of 2007, when I got the Ashton Drake "Katie" collectible baby doll by Linda Webb. I had her for only 5 months, though. In February the following year, I discovered that poor Katie had a hole under the ring finger of her left hand and a tear on top and in between the middle and index fingers of her right hand. I was very sad to have to let her go. I loved her very much, I thought she would be my forever baby, and I was unable to get her repaired. So, after Katie had to go, I went online, shopped around, and found my first Lullaby Berenguer girl doll, whom I named Katie Rose. Well, that Katie rotted because I had given her too many baths, and I had to throw her away. That made me very sad, too. My next Katie Rose was the Sunshine Berenguer, which was just like the Lullaby Berenguer, except Sunshine had open eyes and an open mouth. Well, she ended up having to go, too, because something went wrong with her left leg, I tried to replace it, and the new leg just would not fit. I couldn't get her old leg back on, either, so she, too, had to be thrown away. Dakota Rhiannon was next. Dakota was the 22" Berjusa Original New Baby from Doll Factory Direct. She lasted me only a short time, too. I ended up donating her to a church Thrift Store that raises money for its food pantry because her left leg joint kept gapping and it somehow bothered me that I couldn't fix it no matter what I tried to do. Joseph Christopher and McKenzie Elizabeth came next. These babies were the 20" Berjusa Original Newborn Babies, also from Doll Factory Direct. Well, Joseph ended up getting donated, and his poor twin sister got taken apart and ripped to shreds by me because, as always, I was extremely angry at the time, and I wanted to destroy whatever I could get my hands on. Poor McKenzie! And just think, my current baby girl was almost destroyed in the same fashion late Tuesday night of this week (See my Journal Entry "I'm Feeling Much, Much Better" for the full story)! Anyway, I then went and ordered the Ashton Drake "Charlie" collectible baby doll by Linda Webb last April, he arrived late in June that same year, and right after Christmas I packed him up and sent him off to my friend to be reborned and sold. After he is sold, my friend will be using the money to buy me a new Charlie doll so that she can reborn him, too, and send him back to me. (I am starting over with a new Charlie because I was giving my old one baths and his arm joints started to smell funky.) My current Lullaby Berenguer doll (the one that came from the friend who will be reborning my old and new Charlie dolls for me) was ordered online by my friend over the summer, and she arrived in September of last year. And if I decide to keep her, and since I'll be renaming my reborn boy Bryan Elliott, I'll be naming my Lullaby Berenguer Gretchen Lee. However, if my friend can get both Katie and Charlie for me, and whether she reborns both of them or just the boy, I'll be renaming Katie Gretchen Lee, and my Lullaby Berenguer will go back to my friend. And this time, Bryan and Gretchen will be my forever babies. No more getting mad and mistreating my babies or getting rid of them for something better. This is a promise I plan to keep, so help me God!

Hi, Margy! Thanks for your comment. You seem extremely nice, and it's refreshing to know that someone actually supports my passion for dolls. And you're right, many people do collect dolls, and I think I've seen some of Marie Osmond's dolls, too. Very beautiful, and such talent, too! Anyway, yeah, I will no longer be bathing or mistreating my dolls, either. I want to be able to cherish my dolls forever and make sure they last, so thanks so much for your input. You are a wonderful person!

Hi jo, that's an interesting story about your dolls ,it would be nice for them to keep them ,maybe not wash them much ..many folks collect dolls , and there certainly are some beautiful ones , I used to watch Marie Osmond on the shopping channel selling hers , so pretty with lovely clothes . I like your idea of not getting mad and hanging onto them thats what I would do ...
