Double vision

I am a 42 yr. old male who suffered a cerebral hemorrage on 11/7/03.  Can anyone tell me when my double vision will go away?
Will I ever feel normal again?

Hi, in Feb last year a had a brain aneurysm that went BOOM!
My third cranial nerve was crushed by the aneurysm and although now I need a less powerful prism my vision downwards is really awful. I'm thankful that I can do stuff but stairways are my nemesis!

Dr Rubin makes an excellent suggestion about seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist and I just wanted to add that these doctors can primarily be found at large academic health centers; it would be best to inquire at your closest one.  Also, since hopefully you'll be at the academic health center, you may also want to make an appointment with a neurologist with a specialty in strokes; some neurologists specialize in motor neuron disease, others specialize in other areas and some specialize in strokes and stroke rehabilitation, so that may be something you want to look into.  In any event, let's hope that the diplopia gets better.  Good luck to you my friend.
