Left side massive ischemic stroke

My brother who is 52 yrs old and very strong and healthy aside from high cholesterol had a massive left side ischemic stroke 10 days ago. He is on a breathing tube and is being kept sedated. they had to remove half his skull to allow swelling. I've been on here reading and lots of promising stories. The dr's are telling me IF he survives the next few weeks without getting an infection or pneumonia he will most likely be paralyzed and non verbel. My problem is that he is in a state prison for non violent offenses. Will he get the care he needs being there? Has anyone on here had an experience like this?

My mother also had a left side ischemic stroke. It's tough on both the patients and their families. I would think (and hope) that most prisons do have good health care, but I don't know for sure. You and your Brother are in my thoughts.
