May I ask, how long were you comatose & what, if any, blood thinner medication were you on? My dad died recently from a massive bleeding stroke. He was in a coma right afterwards & the next day he was brain dead.
also thanks for your comments
thanks for u comments much appreciated
pneumonia is one of the reasons but you would be sick and likely with fever if that were true. you may have mild difficulty swallowing your own saliva - it needs to be evaluated by a skilled speech / swallowing pathologist. sometimes, you get placed on a special type of medicine (ACE Inhibitors) for blood pressure - and that can result in a dry cough but it is reversible if you stop the medicine.
I had a massive bleeding stroke in September 2005. While I was comatose in Neuro ICU I developed pneumonia. This is a common problem following stroke, especially where the patient has to be ventilated (put on a respirator). I am not providing medical advice here; I only offer my experience. The cough will probably clear up with time. You are a fairly recent stroke survivor.
