Stoke and Memory Loss

My Dad had a stroke 8 days ago, The doctors say it was an Ischimec stroke as the CT scan showed no bleeding. He has retained movement in his limbs and can walk with some assistance, However he has no memory or recognition function. He does not recognise his own family which is heart breaking, He is extremely restless and irritable. He cannot communicate, some words are understood but most are slurred, he cannot feed himself or use the bathroom. He sleeps for hours on end. We're praying that he regain his memory. Any advice on what we can do to help him remember us?

I am sorry about your dad's stroke. It looks like he is on his way to recovery. It will just take some time. It will be helpful if you could take big pictures of your family members with their names on post it notes. Everytime you see him, show him the pictures and say the names out loud. Hope it helps.
