I am still in the testing phase of thyroid issues. Have had my ultra sound done, and my uptake scan, and I am being referred to an Endocrinologist, but I thought I would comment on the cough. Everytime I eat or drink something, I have a phlemmy cough for hours. I'm guessing this has somthing to do with the nodules, is this true? Any information is appreciated in advance.
I tend to suffer chronic chest congestion. For starters, you don't want to suppress your cough. That said, I hope it isn't hurting you when you do cough.
Drink *plenty* of water (thins mucus and allows it to come up easier.) Things that help bring up the gunk: steam, Guifenisen helps (Mucinex or syrup) bring it up (it's an expectorant, not a suppressant.)
Receiving karate chops across the back may help break some of it up.
There are a few supplements reported to help: Bromelain and n-acetyl cysteine (NAC). That said, it's *important* to read up thoroughly on anything that you are thinking to take.
When I get colds, I tend to up my C & Zinc.
You want to keep that "gunk" moving out from your lungs. If you are running temps, it'd be time to visit the Dr.
I hope you feel better soon, RA1.
Would see your primary doc about the cold for recs on getting thourgh this.
