I was diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis about 7 years ago, when I was only 12, because of a large goiter and family history of hypothyroid but none of the usual symptoms (weight gain, tiredness) In fact, the only thing I think if effected was my menstrual cycle. (But that could just have been me getting older, since I was only 12!)
I've been taking meds since then (still without "usual symptoms" just because my TSH was 30 - 40s) and my most recent TSH test was at 34. I'm 5"9 and weigh just about 165lbs. I work out vigorously 3-4 times a week, eat mostly healthy, slightly below normal BP and haven't lost weight (I'm not sure if thats a symptom though..)
How do I get this down to normal?? Could it me a pituitary issue since I dont have the normal symptoms? Could birth control pills be interfering?
I need my TSH to be 1-4, because I am trying to join the Army to pay for school, and I can't pass medical clearance without it. Help me!
