Dr. Lupo,
My endocrinologist told me he thinks I might be part of the approximately 10 percent of patients who has Hashimoto's but does not test positive on the tpo/ag blood work. My endo told me the only way to really know is to do a FNA biopsy and check the cells. Is that something that I could do? (Please note: I have no nodules/goiters)
I would hate to get on thyroid medication if I do not need it. Doing a biopsy to check for a Hashimoto diagnosis would be helpful in making the decision about what is causing my fatigue.
Would it be possible for me to get an FNA biopsy to determine whether or not I have Hashimoto's, since my antibodies show up negative but my doctor suspects I could have it?
