FNA Clarification....

Hello,
My first FNA was nondiagnostic, the results of my second FNA was the follow 6 words  "Consistent with a benign follicular nodule."

Should I send these out for a second opinion? Shouldn't they be able to tell me what type of nodule it was?  I am relieved it was not overtly cancerous, by from my reading, 20% of "follicular nodules" could stil be cancerous.....

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like a benign nodule, not a "follicular lesion" or "suspicious for follicular neoplasm" - would follow with ultrasound.  If desired, send slides for a second opinion.

Sorry hit post too soon...

FYI..Ultrasound results..Nodule description....

From two days ago....2.8cm x 1.8cm x 1.8 cm, thick hypoechoic rim, hypervascular,  no microcalcifications, internally it is nearly isoechoic to thyroid, few small cystic spaces

Ultrasound from 4 weeks ago...only said "a poor flow hypoechoic halo" with areas of "increased and decreased echogegnicity."
