This means you have autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto's) -- the antibodies are "positive" and the degree of rise is less important than the fact they are positive. In terms of pregnancy, this increases miscarriage rate and infertility. The TSH is too high, particularly if considering pregnancy or are pregnant -- would start treatment as soon as possible, in most cases would start with 100mcg of levothyroxine if you are already pregnant perhaps lower if not --- but talk to your doctor about specifics of dosing. Treatment significantly reduces pregancy related risks and usually results in successful pregnancy.
Thank you Doctor.
I just started on Synthroid 75mcg. And today found out that I am pregnant (5th week).
I read that hypothyroidism in the mother could effect baby's mental abilities. I don't want this to happen to my child, knowingly. But is that true? Please suggest me. I would rather take the pain now than to cause pain to myself and the child for life.
I am not able to get an appointment with my doctor to talk about this soon.
Please advice.
