partial goiter removal

Hi, i posted before but i got my info wrong, after speaking to my mum this is what she told me. the surgery she had 9 months ago was a partial goiter removal as well as a partial thyroid removal. it was a large goiter... what they took out weighed 4Lbs, the reason that the surgeon couldnt take out the whole goiter was because on a scan/xray it showed that it had grown past her collar none. so they took out the main neck goiter (the large bit) because she was having too much difficulty breathing and swallowing & she was starting to choke on food when eating. anyways... as i said in a previous post... shes having alot of pain in her Chest, Arm, ect... and is struggling to move properly (like her arm and shoulder has gone stiff).... she went to see her doctor yesterday & he pescribed Tramadol for the pain... which i know  is a very strong painkiller (its not working)... he told her that if the pain doesnt go then he will be checking her for muscular dystrophy but i've read that muscular dystrohpy is genetically passed down in families (theres no history of this in our family)... so i was wondering could the pain be from the bit of goiter that they couldnt take out? because the bit they left was the bit thats behind her collar bone and she says thats where most of the pain is coming from?? could it also be the cause of the pain thats going down her arm?

It's possible - she would likely need to have repeat CT scan of the chest/neck and review the images with a thoracic surgeon with experience in goiters that extend into the chest.

Thankyou so much for your reply, she said she will now discuss having a repeat CT scan with her doctor next time she sees him.
