Unless your are an endocrinologist or other specialist in the medical field pertaining to thyroidology, please do not respond as an authority. While most nodules are benign, there is a risk of malignancy that is 5-10% and a portion of these have significant impact on life. All nodules need careful ultrasound evaluation by an expert and many do not even need FNA. In expert hands, over-treatment/testing is minimized.
That is an ultrasound description of the nodule consistency meaning that it is heterogeneous (or patchy) in terms of the way the sound waves are reflected back. If the nodule is larger than 1-1.5cm then FNA biopsy may be needed - would discuss with your endocrinologist.
