Swelling

Hello!

I am a 32 year old with Hashitoxicosis.  I was on 100 of synthroid for the last year and had to be pulled off my meds because I went hyper after a long time of being hypo.  I was originally dx with Hashimotos and the Hashitoxicosis was given as a dx in September. I have been off meds since September and my TSH levels went from .1 to 8.8 and back down to 4.4 (all while off meds). I have felt great being in this range with no meds until the last week.

I all of the sudden got very painful swelling all around my neck (all lymph nodes) and my neck is tender...thyroid is tender as well. Severe fatigue kicked in and some achiness.  Fever was very mild like 99.6. I did have hyper signs like upset stomach and palps. I really thought I was going hyper again.

I went in and got levels checked but they are basically the same as before (TSH 4.4) T3 T4 were within normal limits although I do not have exact values.

So I am confused.....can your thyroid do this? It feel like I have some virus around the neck? It worries me that it is not just one lymph node but all over my neck and I feel so bad.  This did happen to me once before.  I am actually feeling better over the last few days.....but the tenderness is still there and fatigue is getting a little better with each day.  I have had to take ibuprofin to help.

Could it be that it is my thyroid and it is just now showing up yet in blood tests? Or is this something else?

Thanks!

Thank you!  I did have a ultrasound back in Sept and nothing major was shown....basically consistent with hashimotos.

I am going to call endo tomorrow.

Thanks again!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
This may be thyroid inflammation - would see an endocrinologist for evaluation including neck ultrasound.
