Papillary Carcinoma Thyroid

Am John from Chennai aged 25.  I have surgery last week due to solitary nodule found in right lobe of thyroid.

My Report:

Specimen: Total Thyroidectomy Specimen

Macroscopic Description:
Bottle marked right thyroid: received right lobe of thyroid measuring 7.0X5.5X3.5cm. Cut surface shows multilobulated nodule measuring 5.7X5.0X3.3cm and extending to capsule. Isthmus measures 2.5X1.5X1.0cm. Cut surface is unremarkable.
A: Frozen Section  - all
B: Additional bits from remaining speciman - 4 bits.
Frozen section report: Follicular lesion with papillary features and calcification.
Bottle marked left hemi-thyroid: received left lobe of thyroid measuring 4.5X2.5X2.0cm. External surface appears unremarkable. Cut surface shows a grey white nodule measuring 1.0cm across, which is close to the capsule, isthmus measures 2.5X1.5X1.0cm. Cut surface is unremarkable.
C:Left Lobe - 4 bits
D: Isthmus 2 bits.

Microscopic Description:
A and B: Sections show thyroid tissue with follicles of varying sizes arranged in a nodular pattern. Some of the follicles are lined by cuboidal cells ground-glass nuclei. Areas of fibrosis and psammomatus calcification are seen. Some of the nodules show hurthle cell changes and scant colloid. Papillary structures are seen focally. There is no pericapsular infiltration.

C: Sections show thyroid tissue with a nodular area showing papillary strustures lined by cuboidal cells with nuclear clearing and overiapping.  There is no pericapsular infiltration

D: Section shows thyroid tissue with no specific lesion.

Impression:
  - Papillary carcinoma thyroid, follicular varient involving right and left lobe of thyroid, total thyroidectomy specimen
  - isthmus shows no specific lesion.

What is this all about.  What is the next thing i should do.,  Is this problem cureable ? Is there a chance of reoccurence ?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
You should see a thyroid cancer specialist to determine if you need radioactive iodine - which given the reported size, is probably indicated.  Given the young age, this is Stage I with a very good prognosis with appropriate treatment and surveillance.

Checked with a doctor from Nuclear Science Dept.  He said that will do a iodine test (not sure about the exact term) and will do a complete scan.  This scan will give the exact picture of the problem.  Will post my treatment and the report once i get.  Thanks for your assistance.
