Recent Hashimoto Diagnosis - is Antithyroid globulin 6070 an emergency?

My husband was recently diagnosed by an allergy and asthma doctor with Hashimoto's.  He was referred to an endocrinologist but can't get an appointment until April 13.

His test results were:

TSH 7.370
Thyroid Peroxidase 320
Antithyroid globulin 6070

My husband's only real complaint is persistent itching for the last 1 1/2 years.  Allergist told him that Hashimoto's and itching were unrelated.

Still these results seem so abnormal to me that I think this must be affecting him badly.  My husband is 76 years old.  Do you think he needs immediate attention?

Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

Bea

The itching may well be due to the Hashimotos and I have patients who have significant improvement with treatment -- getting the TSH close to 1.0 with thyroid medication -- consider talking to the primary doc about starting synthroid or levoxyl at a dose of 25mcg (low start dose due to age) with a repeat TSH prior to the April visit with endocrinologist.

I've been reading on here for some time. This is the first time I've posted. Thyroid disease is in four of my family members.I frequent other forums and message boards and came across a link given on one of them for JimLows website. I think its okay to post it on here. I have seen links on here before on posts.
