Second Opinion say Follicular no Hurthle - Next?

OK my second opinion came back follicular neoplasm as opposed to Hurthle cell change.

I have a couple of questions that I have not been able to get answers yet....

Questions:
I have had this nodule for 7 years, if it was cancer would I be deceased or would it have spread by now?

Do non-cancer neoplasm ever convert into cancer?

Are a non-growing nodule more less likely to be cancer?

Would you have a lobectimy if you had a 2cm, Iodine hot, follicular neoplasm... if not what steps would you take.

I have an appointment with a endo on the 30th... what questions should I sk him to make sure is knows what he is doing?

Carl

TSH 3rd Generation is 1.12 ref range of 0.4-4.5

Both I-123 (2001 and 2009) say hot nodule

FNA doctor mentioned a lot of colliod when taking sample.

I guess if it was cancer I am just lucky it has not spread in the 7 years I had the nodule.

If the nodule is hot - would watch it.
Hot nodules are often follicular lesions on FNA - would look closely at the nuclear scan and the ultrasound at the same time and make certain this is a hot nodule.

Benign follicular lesions may convert to cancer - there is a debate regarding this.
Thyroid cancers grow very slowly - so lack of growth is only somewhat re-assuring.

Would ask what the TSH is and if this is hot, would anticipate over time a further decrease in TSH and possible progression to hyperthyroidism.
