Thyroid???? Hormone Deficencies

Am wondering if Thyroid Function Tests can show normal even if there is a problem?

My sister and grandmother have both had their thyroids removed and my mother has been at me for 10 years to have mine checked. I have done this several times and am always told the test is normal.

However, i continue to suffer from depression (medications don't seem to work), fluctuating extremes of tiredness or hyperactivity, low blood sugar, high cholesterol, tension headaches and low libido. As individual events most of these symptoms remain untreated but i am finding myself in a continual downhill slide and don't feel that anything i'm feeling is RIGHT or NORMAL.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
given the family history, more extensive thyroid testing may be appropriate.  Would test TPO and Tg-antibodies and carefully look at the TSH result (if >3 and positive antbodies, treatment may be helpful although the TSH is "normal").  Would also do thyroid ultrasound given the family history.

It might help the doctor if you posted your numerical thyroid test scores, along with the lab ranges.
