elevated ft3 with normal tsh and ft4

someone please help,  My 10 year old son has a slightly elevated ft3,  it is 5.17 with the norm being 1.70-4.20. his tsh and ft4 are normal. he has had fatigue and stamina issues, heart racing and palpitations, high anxiety where he has been diagnosed with panic disorder. can this be thyroid related??

dr lupo, i thought the ft3 was the most accurate since it shows what is not bound and what is available for the body to use. That tha total t3 would show what is bound and unbound.  I have hashimotos disease and have struggled for years. Have i been told wrong by my doctor?  thank you for your response. If this was a case of t3 toxicosis, would the ft3 be much more elevated??

The free T3 is sometimes not accurate -- this is likely the case here where the TSH and FT4 are normal -- would repeat it using a different lab and/or test as Total T3.  If there is still a concern, see a pediatric endocrinologist.
