Thyroid

I recently had my thyroid levels checked and they came back normal.  But I have many of the symptoms of hyperthyroid ism.  I have heart palpitations and heart racing.  My hair is falling out and is dry.  My nails are brittle and have ridges.  I have difficulty climbing stairs and my joints are stiff in my hands, knees and feet.  I have recently become sensitive to certain foods.  My throat is sore and my voice is raspy.  I don’t like anything around my throat.  Can you have a thyroid problem and still have normal levels?

Thank you.  I have too many of the symptoms to ignore.  I am on natural supplements now until I can afford a doctor who will listen and look beyond blood work.

My test results were in normal range, but I was experiencing hyper symptoms. I lowered my meds and have been much better since. The 'normal' range was obviously not normal for me. Hope you get sorted....and yes, get tested again and get a copy of results and ranges. You may be close to being 'abnormal'. Keep us posted :)

Thank you.  I know there are many people whose tests came back "normal" and they still had a thyroid problem.

Not likely thyroid if levels are normal - and the symptoms are very nonspecific so while thyroid was a possible cause, the normal labs exclude it.

It sounds like the symptoms I have.  I have hypothyroidism which is the opposite of hyperthyroidism. Underactive thyroid. You should have more blood work done. I have had all those symptoms for a few years and it highly runs in my family. The medication helps some of the symptoms. Good luck
