I had my thyroid levels checked due to extreme fatigue and muscle pain (along with many other symptoms - hair loss, constipation, weight gain, etc.). The nurse said they were "normal". I asked for the numbers and she said the Free T4 was .88 and TSH was 1.36 Hypothyroidism runs in my family and my grandma, aunt, and twin sister are all on medication for it. The nurse said they weren't going to treat me at this time. She didn't give me reference ranges and I know they are different for each lab. I am wondering if these are indeed normal or if they are low. The reference ranges I have found online suggest the Free T4 to be low and the TSH to be "normal". Would there be any other tests that would be beneficial? I really feel that due to my symptoms and family history that this is the problem but feel like no one wants to listen to me. The Nurse practitioner told me that my symptoms were from eating "white" things like white bread, potatoes, rice, and flour. I have tried to cut those out but am still experiencing symptoms. I would really appreciate any advice! Thank you so much!
