Thyroid Nodule

Hello - If anyone can give me advice here I would truly appreciate it. i don't think there is an immediate issue here but just wanted anyones experience / advice. I have a Hoshimoto's hypothyroidism diagnosis in 2011. I have been on Armour for 8 mos now. Im male and 30years old. I recenlty went in for an ultrasound and this is the physicians report:

The gland size is within normal limits (R: 4.7 cm Length x 1.7 cm AP x
1.4 cm Width; L: 3.7 cm Length x 1.4 cm AP x 1.4 cm Width; Isthmus: 4 mm
AP). There is a 5 x 3 x 4 mm nodule with echotexture isoechoic to the
gland appearing to exophytically arise from the inferior lateral aspect
of the right thyroid lobe.
Small solid nodule adjacent to the inferior tip of the right thyroid lobe
is not clearly separate from the gland and has an echotexture similar to
normal thyroid: Consider radionuclide thyroid study to assess whether
this is normally functioning thyroid tissue/nodule.

My doctor is going on medical leave and I was told to follow up when she gets back in May 2013. Can this follow up wait? Seems like there is something on this report that warrents further evaluation? Thank you.

Nuclear scan NOT needed - would not help sort this out.
This small, possible nodule can be rechecked w/ utlrasound in 6 months (based on the decription you provide).  It does not look like something that needs FNA biopsy.

Does seem like a long time to wait.  I'm not familiar with that diagnosis other than the hashimoto  but I had an ultra sound and thank goodness I always ask for a copy because the report recommended a FNB and my Dr said no rush and wait a few months.  Once I read the report I insisted on follow up now.  Unfortunately news isn't that great but my point is if you have a sence to follow up things sooner you should.  My situation because of malignancy could be more troubling if I were to wait for convenience of dr.  Good luck and follow your gut
