thyroid scan results

I just had a thyroid scan done which showed.  Small Hyperfunctioning nodule in the lateral aspect of the lower pole left lobe has enlarged since last scan 03/2010.  New small photopenic defect in the lower pole of the right lobe consistent with a hypofunctioning nodule... would my next step just to moniter this?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Ultrasound to confirm presence of hypo-functioning ("cold") nodules which may need FNA biopsy.  The "hot" nodules are seldom cancer and usually are not FNA'd unless highly suspicious on ultrasound.  Also correlate with labs (especially TSH) as hot nodules can cause hyperthyroidism.
