Neutrophils are one of the several types of white blood cells. They help fight infection.
The suggestion to check virology, suggests that they might think you have a viral infection of some type.
It's now Sat, so you will have had your appt. How did it go, and is there a diagnosis and/or more testing to be done?
So the blood test results have come back.
''Neutropenia.
Reactive lymphocytes seen suggest check virology. If symptoms persists consider lymphonode biopsy''
I have an ENT appointment Friday at 10:15am.
Any suggestions in what it could/couldn't be anyone?
Thanks in advance
Let us know how it turns out.
Hi Barb135,
Thank you for the reply too. As a result of reading your comment I am now going to go to ER and press for an MRI & PET scan. You are right - I can no longer sit around and just wait for them to get back to me.
Merry Christmas :)
Hi MANmom,
Thank you so much for the reply during the Christmas period. It's a relief to hear from someone directly 'talking' to me about it rather than reading on sites. You have confirmed what I have been reading - but I am now at that stage where I need to know! I am ready for whatever it is but I just need to know.
Thank you again & I intend on pressing for the results.
Merry Christmas.
I don't want to scare you needlessly, but I agree with MANmom. If I received a report that said "suggest urgent follow up", I'd either be going to the ER (urgent) or sitting on the doctor's doorstep.
I'd say you might want to go so far as to insist on a PET scan, which could tell you if there's anything else in your body that might be "suspect"
Well, I can't tell you much, but you need to follow up and request either a biopsy or the MRI soon. If it is growing rapidly that is not good. I am not sure about lymph nodes, that was not my problem, but I do know a lump having high vascularity has more of a chance of being cancerous. Cancer needs a blood supply to grow. You must press your doctors to get the MRI or biopsy as soon as possible.
