Irregular cycles & changing cells=infertility??

We've been trying for 8-9 months tho (conceived DD first cycle).  My doc refuses to do anything except say " just keep tryin".  My last pap came back abnormal.  He said that they found "changing cells" and they will redo another pap in 6 months to see if anything will progress (I am at a 2 of 6, 6 being cancer).  Is this combined with our inability to get pregnant enough to send us to a specialist or start us on fertility treatments?  This is so ridiculous!!!  I am so disappointed in our medical system (in canada) and frustrated with this "wait and see" approach.

I started charting my CM and temp and it looks like I may be annovulatory.  What  now?!  I will bring it up to my doc one more time and see what he thinks.  This is so hard...I just break down and cry......................i don't know what to do.  I am so sad......help.

After about 10 months....finally got my BFP with a home pregnancy test.

HOWEVER...when I went to the GP he gave me a requisition for a lab test and it came out NEGATIVE. =(   I then took another home pregn test and it was positive...again.  WTF?!  I went back to the GP and he said he has never had this happen...before.  So now I'm waiting for the results of blood test. *cross fingers*

Hormone levels all came back "normal" range: FSH, prolactin and progesterone.  My GP referred me to a specialist, I've got appt in April.  He said he may prescribe clomid but he wants to wait to see what the gynecologist says.

*cross fingers!!*

I'm glad that you will see a speciliast finnally...Yes,I've done all those tests on the book...

Make sure you get

DAY 21 test to se eif you are ovulation.depending on your cycles though..if u think u Ovulate later than CD21 ,go later than....

DAY 3 test for testesterone,FSH,thyroid..very very important one....make sure ur FSH is X <10  ....

SONO:They check ur tubes by inserting some fluid.....
Ulatrasound:to see if everything is OK with uterus,cervix  etc...

Make sure you educate your self alot so you can understand whats going on AND you can ask questions to the Doc...Most of the time we think that they are the doc.s and they will do the right thing...well,not really...there are times that we have to push them to get a  treatment that we wanted...

good luck and lease keep me updated on your journey.

Thank you so much for your responses.  I truly appreciate your support and advice.

redBlues:

Thank you for taking the time to share you experience with me.  I don't know anyone with these kind of issues (and who understands Canadian health care system) so it helps to hear from you.

I actually went in to see my doc today and I told him we're on our 9th month of TTC and it's just not happening.  I showed him my chart and told him my DH sperm count is normal.  I told him I know my body and something is just not right.  He finally said he would refer me to a specialist (gyno) who devotes part of her practice to infertility.  When I heard that word, I almost started balling.  It's so hard to be classified as that.

Anyway, it will take a while for the referral to go thru and then set up an appointment so now I'm playing the waiting game.  I'm hoping to try Clomid as well....I can't believe you had to ASK for it.  If your cycles are so irregular, shoulnd't they just prescribe it automatically??!?!? *sigh*

In the meantime he sent me to the lab to get my levels of prolactin, progesterone and FSL (??? i think ???) follicular something or other.  Do you know anything about these hormones?  He did take a few moments to review my chart so that made me happy.

He did classify me as secondary infertility......i'm going to google that later.  hopefully it's not something that will cause me to be barren. =(

This is just so hard.

And to hear about your MC....it's even harder  to conceive and know it's not healthy.  I really wish you the very best luck.  Thank you for your honesty and advice...."wait and see" is not something I value in our health care system.  We def need to become more proactive.

I am in BC, not Ontario.

Thank you for being so supportive.  Please keep me updated on your journey.

I also live in Ontario,CA and I'd like to share my experience with you to give you some encourement...

I've started to TTC when I was 34 and I was dying to get pregnant and have my first child before I turn to 35..

But before that we had gotten  pregnant without even trying;but I had to have D&C since the baby had some chromosom issues..It was my first pregnancy&MC so it was very hard on me..Anyone who had MC knows that due to ur hormones,u can't wait to get pregnant again and thats the only thing you can think of untill u have  a healthy baby....

So I was doing all the right thing that I was supposed, eating healthy, taking vitamins, exercising etc...six months later still nothing.I had also seen my family doc. to make sure that my vacinnes are up to date..everyhting was fine except me being very impatient getting pregnant before my birth-day...

after six months .I went to my family doc. .she was very kind and nice..and I told her that I want to see an OB to make sure that I'm OK and I'm 35 anyway with history of MC ..She said that she couldnt send me to an OB yet since it hasn't been a year(apperantly that's the rule that they have to follow)...I was very upset ,becasue I wasn't considering myself an ordinary woman who was TTC...I did have some reasons to see an OB and perfrom further testing:

I was 35
I had  a MC
My first failed pregnancy was due to some chromosom issues according to genetic counsellor that I was seeing during the pregnancy..
I was trying six months already...

So to me it was good enough to see an OB and do more testing...but se wasn't sending me anyway...

So I've realized that I wasn't gonna let her stop me what I wanna do and I was determined to see an OB ...I've approached to my genetic counsellor and asked them to arrange an appointment with an OB so I can make sure that I was ready to get pregnant again...

And they did...and I started seeing an OB and performed bunch of tests..Everyhting came back normal and my OB also told me keep trying...She was also not too hopefull due to my age-35..but she said keep trying...

During this journey ,I've realized that I wasn't a kind of person who wants to play "wait &see" game especially when the age is concern...since i was educating myself alot about TTC, and all the treatments,I've asked my OB for clomid( i was ovulating late,my cycles very very long)...and she did give me....we are currently trying with clomid

The point is...in Canada yes health care is free(well it's not free we pay for it via our excessive taxes) But because of that the doctors are too busy to think about you or about ur special circumstances....

if ur doc. is not giving u what u want,go to another one..try another doctor untill you are satisfied with him....

your case is even more severe(Sorry for saying that, but if ur papsmear is not normal)

in ur case ,i would NOT wait &see while TTC..I would see a doctor asap..u may not have the time that u think you have.....it may lead to a cancer(i'm really sorry for saying that, but u never know that)

u think u are anovulatory ,u have an abnormal papsmear..you don't need anything else to see a speciliast...

I really wish the best...I'm not sure what part of Ontario you are from..but Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto and its stuff is the best when it comes to infertility, pregnancy,OB etc....

drop me a line if u need more help....

A lot of doctors in the UK won't look at fertility issues until you have been ttc for at least 2 years, 9 months hasn't really been that long in ttc.  I don't know if the reason you have not conceived is because of your pap results but i would ask the doctor the question anyway.  I wish you loads of luck
