I was wondering about them, too. But I'm reading this book by a fertility specialist and he says that all sperm that don't make it into the cervix and uterus within 15 minutes die anyway, which for me defeats the whole purpose of a cup. Just try not to get up for 15 minutes or so and this should help.
In fact, when I got preggo with dd, I got up right away, took a shower, washed everything very carefully  (as a way of preventing a bladder infection, tend to get UTIs very easily) and still got pregnant! so if it's meant to be , it will be!
