PCOS

I just got the results of the ultra sound back from my obgyn and she thinks I might have PCOS. I called the re and made an appointment for December 22. Just wondering if anyone with PCOS who is ttc can tell me what type of treatments are available and what the chances of successfully concieving are. Thanks!

Thanks for your encouragement. I am now undergoing a month of tests and at the end the RE will let me know what steps he thinks I need to take next. Good luck. SSBD to you. I hope you get a bfp on 2/7!

I was diagonosed with PCOS when I was 22 I am now 29 but I have been ttc with my hubby for a while but it was only this year I seriously went to a fertility specialist and started cycles the doctor told me this not an end all the only thing PCOS does is prevent you from developing a fully mature egg so if the doctor can help you do this your chances are pretty good i recently did IUI and I am waiting for the results I am supposes to know if I am pregnant by 02/07/2011 will let you know if I did take care and good luck

I have PCOS and I take Clomid to help me ovulate I also take Prometrium to induce an AF (its progesterone). There are many types of meds that a PCOS person can take. I've been trying for a year now and I have to say I was glad when I found out I have PCOS because it made a lot of sense. But, I also hate it because I feel like it’s just a big pain in the a**. But, PCOSers can get pregnant and have happy healthy babies; and I’m still waiting for it to happen.

Good luck with your Dr. visit.

Thanks. I am not going to worry about it just yet. I read the biggest reason for those with PCOS to have fertility problems is they do not have regular periods or no periods at all and therefore they don't ovulate. I get very regular periods and had positive opks for the past 6 months. Also they think I might have it because I have cysts on my ovaries and the nurse told me that cysts on the ovaries is common around ovulation. I had the ultra sound the day after I got a positive opk. That ***** that your insurance doesn't cover fertility. I know mine covers it, I just don't know how much it covers. I guess I will find out soon.

I don't have any information on PCOS, but wanted to say that I hope your appointment on the 22nd goes well.  She did say "might" and not definitely so I wouldn't worry too much just yet.  How long have you been ttc?  It's been about 8 months for me.  I'm getting impatient!  My insurance won't cover ANY fertility treatment or tests.  I'm actually looking for another job with better benefits just in case I need to go down that road.
