is it lupus?

have hx of positive ana titers and false positive rpr. symptoms of rash first started 1997 and went away after prednisone and h1 and h2 blockers. 2004 broke out in painful and burning hives that left bruising esp. on my lower extremities lasting one year. finally diagnosed after seeing many specialists with urticarial vasculitis 2/2005. that same month i started having swollen joints and at that time i was put on prednisone and have been on varying doses ever since. my symptoms are becoming worse,  i have experienced hair loss, severe joint pain to the point where i was unable to wt bear. i have constant pain thruout my body. i have bruising for no reason. all my lab work recently was negative for lupus. i'm wondering does the prednisone affect the accuracy of the lab values?

A positive Lupus test would indicate Anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA).

Have you ever had your thyroid levels checked?  Some of your symptoms *could* be from hypothyroidism and/or possibly fibromyalgia.  I suppose you've already been to an Ednocrinologist? (Sorry, I can't remember everything in your post).

best wishes.
