Bitter Taste

For about two weeks, I have had this awful horrible CONSTANT bitter taste in my mouth that nothing can get rid of.  I've been to the dentist, who found nothing.  I've been to the ENT, who thinks its some type of GERD, even though I have no other GERD symptoms, no heartburn, nothing. She put me on some medication called Dexilant but it's not doing anything.  I'm going to the gastroenterologist this week.  The taste is progressively getting worse.  Even water tastes bitter.  I've been in tears for days because I'm so frustrated.  I even went to the ER, where they obviously couldn't do anything but some bloodwork.  The taste seems to move around...it's SO BITTER, like foil with acid on it or permanent bile.  I don't feel anything coming up from my throat.  I'm at such a loss. What if this never goes away? I'm supposed to go on vacation next week...this will ruin it. What could it be??

PS   I always forget something!  -  A lack of good bacteria in the gut can cause a bitter taste!  Get some good probiotics and enzymes.
    Hope you'll be okay.

Hope the endoscopy shows something - and hopefully it is not serious.
    Wishing you a good outcome.

Thank you.  I'm not on any antibiotics.  I'm having an endoscopy this afternoon.  Hopefully, that will shed some light....

Thanks again.

Hello.  The only time I had this bitter taste in my mouth was when I was taking a new antibiotic - I think it was Cipro, but it may have been something else.  Anyway, everything tasted bitter, even water and altho I would rinse my mouth with baking soda and water, the taste remained.  The bitter taste was there for about a month even after I stopped taking the antibiotic.

Hope this info was helpful.  Wishing you the best
